Conflict of Darkness Steam Release Abandoned After Eight Years
Source: Steam Community
Development Comes to an End
After more than eight years of solo development, the creator of Conflict of Darkness has announced that they are giving up on releasing the game through Steam. The store page will be removed, and no further builds will be submitted for approval.
Why Was the Game Never Released?
According to the developer, the Steam store page itself was approved, but the game build repeatedly failed review. Over the years, they fixed issues, added instructions, and resubmitted many times, but the review process kept moving the goalposts. The most recent rejections were especially frustrating because the problems did not affect actual players.
What's Next for the Game?
The developer states they can no longer continue fighting the approval process. They mention that eventually they'll find someone to give the game to, as they cannot deal with it anymore. For now, the future of the game itself is uncertain.
A Thank You to the Community
The developer thanked everyone who wishlisted, followed, tested, or supported the game. Even a small audience meant a lot to them.
